Outreach

Cornell Diversity Programs in Engineering

Professor Hernandez and members of the Hernandez Research Group help support the mission of Cornell University’s Diversity Programs in Engineering, including providing guest lectures for CU Empower (peer mentoring for undergraduates), the CATALYST Academy (summer program for high school students from underrepresented groups).  Professor Hernandez is also a Sloan Mentor serving graduate students in Engineering and Cornell.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers

The Hernandez Research Group promotes research programming to students from under-represented groups through organizing the Scientific Poster Competition at the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers national meeting.  Students participants in the Poster Competition meet with engineering faculty from across the U.S. and participate in professional development workshops (the GEM Grad Lab or the Graduate Institute).
